- Description
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager on a Contract basis to provide environmental delivery assurance across major data centre construction projects.
£700–£800 per day. Outside IR35. 3–4 days site-based + 1 day home-based. London.
This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role supporting the project from pre-construction through construction, commissioning and handover. You will work closely with project and contractor teams to manage environmental risks, ensure compliance with UK legislation and permits, and drive high standards of environmental performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing environmental assessments, permits, management plans and contractor documentation.
- Developing and maintaining environmental schedules, compliance actions and reporting.
- Undertaking site inspections, identifying risks and driving corrective actions through to close-out.
- Reviewing construction environmental management plans, RAMS and environmental controls.
- Supporting environmental incident, complaint and investigation processes.
- Providing environmental input to design development, construction, commissioning and handover.
- Challenging poor or non-compliant practices and promoting continuous improvement.
- Building effective relationships with contractors, project teams, regulators and stakeholders.
- Experience
- Significant relevant environmental experience, with site-based construction experience.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation, permitting and construction environmental management.
- Experienced in reviewing contractor documentation, conducting site inspections and managing environmental actions through to close-out.
- Confident managing incidents, reporting, investigations and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience on data centre, mission-critical or other complex construction projects would be advantageous.
- Practical, proactive and confident in constructively challenging project and contractor teams.
- Qualifications
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in environmental management, environmental science, sustainability, engineering, construction or a related discipline preferred.
This is a long-term contract c12+months.
