- Description
- Health Safety Quality and Environment Director required to join the listed infrastructure manager and operator of the Euro Tunnel. The position will be based in Folkestone with regular travel to Calais.
As Health Safety Quality and Environmental Director, you will be responsible, with the support of board members and a HSQE Team, for overseeing the redevelopment, re-structuring, leading, implementation, and management of health and safety, quality control, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards within the organization. The HSQE Director will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental performance are achieved. The employer has c2600 staff across the UK and France.
Reporting to and with the commitment and support of the Chief Operating Officer, your duties will include:
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and drive change to continually develop and implement health and safety systems, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Lead and direct the supporting HSQE Team to achieve clearly defined ambitious goals.
- Ensure that staff are trained, motivated, and equipped to perform their duties effectively.
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees to promote health and safety awareness and compliance.
- Develop and implement quality and environmental control procedures to ensure that products or services meet customer expectations and comply with relevant regulations and standards.
- Manage the audit and inspection plans to ensure compliance with health and safety, quality control and environmental standards.
- Lead investigation into incidents and accidents and develop recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
- Keep abreast of changes in health and safety, quality control, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies, industry associations and other stakeholders.
- Provide regular reports to executive management on health, safety, quality, and environmental performance.
- Manage the HSQE budget and ensure that resources are allocated effectively to achieve program goals.

- You will have significant and proven experience, previously held at Director level of a large corporate high-risk environment. Ideally, this will be a major transport or infrastructure operator but transferable experience is also very much of interest. You will be able to demonstrate instigating and driving change, significantly improving standards, fantastic leadership skills and professional gravitas capable within a very public facing environment.
- Qualifications
- CMIOSH status or equivalent via a BSc, MSc or higher-level qualification in Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Quality Management or a related field.Professional certification in health and safety, quality control, or environmental management would be advantageous but not essential.French language ability would be a significant advantage.
