- Description
- Principal Designer Manager and CDM Specialist required to join a multi-disciplinary consultancy in their Highways Health, Safety and CDM Team. You will primarily be working with the design teams to ensure that health, safety and wellbeing are integrated into designs and that the CDM2015 responsibilities and duties are being delivered.
Applications are welcome UK wide as full remote working is available.
Duties include:
Carrying out thorough reviews of site project information and construction drawings, and identification of design, construction and maintenance risks through Design Risk Reviews.
Providing CDM advice and support to Client Teams, advising clearly of their Duties, developing bespoke policies, procedures and documentation. Support the project teams on National Highways CPF and assist to deliver the improvement actions identified.
Attending & co-ordinating Design & Project Meetings as required throughout projects.
Visiting project sites
Preparing, co-ordinating and distributing relevant Health & Safety Information to other design & project team members.
Reviewing Construction Phase Plans and RAMS.
Overseeing preparation and production of Pre-Construction Information.
Supporting and managing CDM Team members.
Supporting in improving initiatives such as migration of health, safety and wellbeing information onto digital platforms.
This role is home-based and will require limited visits to clients, contractors/consultants’ offices and site offices.
- Experience
- 5-10 years minimum experience acting as Principal Designer and CDM Advisor in design and application of CDM to multi-disciplinary projects, including delivery of the Principal Designer role. It is essential that this includes some highways projects experinece. Sound working knowledge of CDM 2015 and construction-related health and safety legislation. Familiarity with National Highways procedures and processes (including the health and safety-related PCF products) Design experience with a working knowledge of design principles ideally across disciplines including highways, structures, geotechnics, drainage and technology. Experience across other sectors such as rail and buildings would be advantageous but not essential.
- Qualifications
- Certified Membership of the Association for Project Safety (CMaPS) preferred. Membership of a professional body i.e. RIBA, MAPM, MCIOB, MRICS, MIStructE, MICE etc) is preferred.
