- Description
Health and Safety Advisor required to join an established SHEQ team at a Highways and Roadways maintenance contractor to provide support across the East and West Midlands.
You will support the UK Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Director and Regional Manager in the execution of their duties which include;
Taking a lead role in the planning, preparation, and execution of external audits.
Working closely with the Manager in the ongoing maintenance and development of the ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management systems.
Carry our site visits, inspections and audits, accident and incident investigations and be involved in remedial action.
Providing coaching and mentoring to the Ops Team.
Deliver on site training, inductions and on site briefings.
Reviewing and assisting in the development of RAMS with the Ops Team.
Attending client led safety forums.
There will be a requirement to work at night and occasional weekends on the Motorways and Trunk Roads and work away from home.

- Experience
- You will ideally have existing experience of the Highways sector, with knowledge and experience of working on the Strategic Road Network with a good understanding of Highways England’s Home, Safe and Well aspirations, and the Raising the Bar requirements. Other infrastructure experience can be considered. i.e. Rail and utilities. Good knowledge and understanding of the ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 Management System Standards. Experience and knowledge of planning and supporting external ISO Audits with the Certification Bodies and Clients. Knowledge and experience of developing and maintaining RAMS and working with the Operational Teams to help them further develop safe systems of work. Experience of delivering internal training (Inductions, safety training courses, briefings etc.)
- Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate / Construction Certificate and actively working towards the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Tech IOSH as a minimum – (Actively working towards Grad IOSH) IEMA - beneficial Internal Auditor qualification beneficial
